The Wonderful World of Water
The partner schools from Italy, Latvia, Turkey, Poland and Slovenia have prepared a three-year project entitled “The Wonderful World of Water".
The main object of the project is to get an intercultural insight, to learn a foreign language, to make new friends, an exchange of pedagogical methods and experience and a personality growth of all participants.
The project is planned to be dealt with in a multidisciplinary way, including chemistry, geography, history, economy, biology and ecology.
The majority of the project work is done at regular lessons and with some work outside, on the spot.
Two meetings each year are planned to presents and discuss the results of work .
The teachers and students have an opportunity to take an active part in workshops producing different things (exhibition, video shots of workshops and presentations, brochures, calendar, mini dictionary).
On each meeting will set objectives for the next one. The results will be published on a joint internet site.
The objective of the first year is a thorough analysis of the chosen water, its influence on the environment and people. According to the local environment sea, moors, thermal waters, rivers, underground water will be examined examine.
In the second year of the project the focus will be on pollution of water. We will try to find the main polluters of water, what they pollute it with and what effect on ecosystem can be traced, and the possibilities to reduce the pollution. We will examine the environmental legislation and prepare a comparative study including countries of the project partners.
In the third year the economical possibilities of water will be studied (energy potentials, tourism, fishing, medical care, etc.) and a business plan for the chosen activity will be made.
GENERAL AIMS
To motivate the pupils to study chemistry, physics, geography, and biology better
To encourage the pupils to research the properties of waters from the economic point of view,
To improve knowledge and experience of our students and teachers as well as the European educational framework
To learn a foreign language and to get to know foreign cultures, foreign school systems, different pedagogical approaches
SPECIFIC AIMS
To research waters chemically, biologically, geographically and physically (measurements)
To define their influence on the environment and people
To study problems caused by the greatest polluters and to suggest some ways of diminishing the pollution
To study environmental legislation concerning waters and see what the differences in this field among the states-partners are
Furthermore, to find the possibilities of exploiting water in different economies
To
elaborate operational plans for the activities in questions
(energy, tourism, health-care, ecology)
